Johnsons Shoe Company enters administration

The family footwear business, Johnsons Shoe Company, which runs Johnsons Shoes and Bowley’s Fine Shoes has appointed joint administrators, Ian Defty and Richard Toone of CVR Global.

As with every other non-essential store, all of its 12 stores across London and the south-east of England have been closed temporarily since 20 March, following coronavirus restrictions outlined by the government.

Since 1952 the company has been going. Its non-transactional website shows that it stocks 27 brands including Timberland, Clarks, Ugg, Geox and Converse.

A spokesperson of one of the brands it stocks shared his shock, explaining that there seemed to be no real problems looking from the outside. Until Covid-19 hit, the footwear firm were doing good in terms of trading. They only really faulted by having no online business.

It is not yet clear if the company are looking for buyers or if staff have been made redundant. However, a statement has been issued to say that they will keep 'all informed'.
