Interior Design company, Black Orchid, goes into administration

6 August 2015

Based in Preston, Black Orchid Interiors provides luxury interior design for retailers and companies across the country including House of Fraser as well as the TV show set of ‘Britain’s and Ireland’s Next Top Model’.

The founder, Sally Chamley, has admitted the company have had long-term problems with finance and suppliers, despite the business attracting celebrity clients like Christine Bleakley. Chamley is also a designer who has appeared in national magazines and publications.

Kevin Lucas from Lucas Johnson was appointed administrator and will oversee the wind down of the company. Lucas confirmed the company’s ongoing problems were unable to be solved even with additional investment from business angels and funders. The high overhead costs meant the business model had become unsustainable.

Unfortunately, the small team of employees have now been made redundant while customers of Black Orchid are urged to contact their credit card companies.

Lucas said in a statement: “We have produced a guidance note for all customers explaining what they can do in the circumstances. Thankfully most consumers will be protected by the Consumer Credit Act and will be able to receive a full refund.”

“We are currently securing all stock held by the company across all of its sites and will be seeing whether it will be possible to fulfil any customer orders from the items held.
