The celebrity chef’s pub companies in Norfolk have gone into administration (with a fifth pub to be sold) after suffering ‘short-term cashflow problems’. According to reports, bills had not been paid and suppliers have been left in the lurch.
The Wayford Bridge Inn, Acle Bridge Inn, Chequers Inn and The Lifeboat Inn will continue to be open for business while administrators, Zolfo Cooper, look for interested buyers.
Nick Cropper from Zolfo Cooper commented, "We believe the businesses are attractive to a range of potential buyers and we welcome expressions of interest from third parties to acquire any or all of the sites".
"We would also like to thank the staff for their continued support and professionalism during this process."
Despite this, a few employees have come forward stressing they were not warned properly, with reports of pubs being stripped of fixtures and fittings before anyone was told what was happening.
Pierre White’s pub, The Carnarvon Arms in Highclere in Berkshire is up for sale, according to another employee.
Hopefully the administrators will be able to find a buyer or buyers for the pubs included to ensure jobs are safeguarded.
