Ed’s Easy Diner chain sold out of administration, saving 700 jobs.

13 October 2016

33 of the American-style fast food restaurants have been sold to Ranjit Boparan, owner of Harry Ramsdens, Bernard Matthews and Giraffe. Giraffe Concepts is part of his company, Boparan Restaurant Holdings, and will see the transfer of the business and majority of employees.

Rob Croxen and Blair Nimmo of KPMG were appointed joint administrators to Ed’s Easy Diner Group, Ed’s Easy Diner Holdings and Ed’s Easy Diner Overseas.

While the sale to Mr. Boparan secured 700 jobs, 26 diners will unfortunately have to close, resulting in 379 employees being made redundant.

Croxen said in a statement, “our immediate priority in the coming days will be to liaise with those employees who have been affected by redundancy and ensure that in addition to receiving all back pay owed, they are provided with any assistance they need.”

If you are an employee of the business, please listen to the video below as it will tell you your rights as an employee of an insolvent business. There is a link at the end of the video to the Government website which expands further on what you need to know. Any queries should be directed to KPMG who are handling the administration.
