Just a few weeks ago, the festival took over Stoke Park in Guildford, Surrey for the first time since 2012, however the organisers are in financial trouble once more.
It’s been reported that some acts and suppliers have yet to be paid, despite the festival being hailed as a success. Unfortunately, without the right financial backing the company has called in insolvency practitioners to assist with the closure.
Founder and organiser, Tony Scott, said, “We're just very sad to see that the ticket sales didn't reach the amount required and the situation has occurred.”
It previously entered administration in 2012 following a decline in ticket sales and poor weather conditions. However with strong support and a petition, the festival was brought back this summer with the help of Guildford Borough Council.
Whether or not there will be Guilfest next year hangs in the balance but everyone is hoping a financial backer comes forward.
