Administration for Common People Festival

Common People Festival, the company behind Oxford and Southampton summer pop festivals, has gone into administration.

Debts of over £500,000 were recorded, as a statement from Companies House showed.

The festival took place at Southampton Common and Oxford’s South Park last year, with The Jacksons, Lily Allen and Boney M featuring. Over the past three years, Duran Duran and other top talent have been a part of the event.

Many event suppliers and contractors are included as creditors. This includes Oxford Council who are owed £5,000.

The 2019 event will now be cancelled.

DJ Rob da Bank, organised the events. He was also at Bestival, who were also forced into administration in September. It’s believed the collapse of Bestival, led to Common People, being victim. It is a tough time for the organisation.

Bestival were rescued by Live Nation – will Common People Festival be saved too?
